The GRAMMY nominee spilled the tea during a recent Instagram Q&A.
Kelsea Ballerini hopped onto her Instagram stories on Friday, November 17 to share a few updates with fans. While responding to the miscellaneous questions, she ended up revealing some shocking information regarding the Jonas Brothers’ newest release “Strong Enough” featuring Bailey Zimmerman.
The songstress has always been very outspoken about her longtime fandom for the multi-platinum pop band. She even toured with the sibling trio back in 2021, so it wouldn’t be too surprising if they ever got into the studio together. According to Ballerini, this highly anticipated collaboration may have already happened without fans knowing.
During the Q&A, one user wrote, “Jonas brothers collab when,” which led Ballerini to expose the fact that she was originally tapped to appear on the latest project.
She replied, “To be so honest, I was on ‘Strong Enough’ but did indeed get replaced hahahaha.”
Despite getting cut, it appears that there are no hard feelings between her and Zimmerman as she added, “But Bailey is sick,” alongside a teary-eyed emoji and a melted face emoji.
Ballerini did not go on to give a reason as to why she did not end up on the final cut of “Strong Enough,” which was unveiled on November 10.
Back in 2021, Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas got the band back together after a six-year hiatus, during which they pursued their own solo ventures both in and outside of the music industry. Their reunion as a band came in February of 2019, followed by the announcement of their new songs, “Sucker” and “Happiness Begins.”
This also sparked their return to the stages around the U.S. for their 2021 Remember This tour, which featured Kelsea Ballerini as an opening act. This opportunity marked a full circle moment for the “HEARTFIRST” singer who has previously shared that she was such a fan growing up that she had their posters on her walls and even attempted to win meet & greets back in 2008.
In a social media post shared at the time, she joked that “it only took 12 years to win the JoBro meet and greet.”
Prior to that, Ballerini and Nick Jonas shared the stage during the 2016 ACM Awards when Jonas delivered a guitar solo intro before breaking out into a duet for her fan-favorite single, “Peter Pan.”
While she didn’t join the Jonas Brothers on their current trek dubbed The Tour, Ballerini continued to show her support as she was seen attending several of the band’s concerts this year alongside her boyfriend Chase Stokes.
Kelsea Ballerini has yet to announce when her next headlining tour will commence, however during the same Q&A on Instagram, she hinted that plans for new music and possibly an upcoming headlining trek are underway.
The fan wrote, “I had a dream u announced an arena tour last night … thoughts?”
Her reply included a video of her winking with the caption, “gotta make the next record first. I’m on it.”
Throughout the year, Ballerini has been on the road and making various headlining appearances to showcase her latest project, Rolling Up The Welcome Mat. Just a few weeks ago, she learned that this album, which was inspired by her divorce from fellow country star Morgan Evans, earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Album.
Taking to social media on November 10, the country star shared the moment she heard the news in a heartwarming video that found her celebrating while surrounded by close friends.
“LOOK AT OUR ALBUM GO,” she wrote with a shoutout to her producer, Alysa Vanderheym.
This exciting announcement followed another milestone moment for Ballerini that took place on November 2 when she returned home to Knoxville’s Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center for the biggest headlining concert of her career.
